TAMPA — Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield earned the 77th spot on the 2026 NFL Top 100, the peer-voted ranking produced by NFL Films, after a 2025 season in which the former Heisman Trophy winner posted career-best rushing numbers and helped Tampa Bay open 6-2.
Mayfield completed 343 of 543 attempts (63.2%) for 3,693 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during the 2025 campaign. He also rushed for a career-high 382 rushing yards, ranking ninth in the NFL among quarterbacks while leading all quarterbacks in yards per rush at 6.9 on a minimum of 50 carries. On the ground, 49.1% of his rushes went for a first down — tops among all quarterbacks.
His dual-threat production was sharpest on third down, where Mayfield rushed 29 times with 21 going for first downs, a 72.4% conversion rate that trailed only Justin Herbert among all quarterbacks. The Buccaneers leaned on that efficiency during a hot start that tied Tampa Bay for the NFL’s best record through five weeks.
Mayfield’s signature performance came in a 38-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week Five, when he completed 29 of 33 passes (87.9%) for 379 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions, posting a 134.7 passer rating. His completion percentage and 11.5 passing yards per attempt each led the NFL that week, and he finished second in passing yards, fourth in passer rating and fourth in passing first downs with 17. Among all Buccaneers quarterbacks with 30-plus attempts in a game, Mayfield’s 87.9% completion percentage set a new single-game franchise high. No player in league history has matched that completion percentage and yards-per-attempt combination in the same game with 30-plus attempts.
That Week Five outing was Mayfield’s fourth game-winning drive and fourth fourth-quarter comeback of the season, the kind of play that drew praise from the league. Mayfield plays with a “galvanizing competitive disposition and elite improvisation skills” when extending plays and working off-platform, according to the Buccaneers, from quick processing and underrated arm talent to touch accuracy.
