ARLINGTON, Texas - Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Zyon McCollum shut down Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb without a single reception across 42 coverage snaps in a Week 5 Thursday Night Football matchup at AT&T Stadium, posting a 39.6 passer rating when targeted against the NFL’s leading receiver entering the game.

McCollum and Lamb matched up 11 times during the contest. Lamb was targeted just once in those clashes and came away with nothing. McCollum also covered George Pickens on five snaps, allowing no receptions and recording a pass defensed on the only target Pickens drew.

“I tried to be as tight in coverage as possible and giving him different looks, switching things up,” McCollum said of limiting Lamb. “[Head Coach Todd] Bowles just did a good job of pressuring Dak and keeping him uncomfortable and you have to be there when the ball is thrown and I think once we kind of scared him a little bit early on, that he looked off of him.”

The performance pushed McCollum’s season passer rating when targeted to 68.8 among defenders with 150 or more coverage snaps - the third-best mark in the NFL and second-best among cornerbacks in 2026, his fifth year in the league.

Head Coach Todd Bowles credited McCollum’s growth in film study and mental preparation for the breakout season. “Zyon is playing like an All-Pro cornerback right now,” Bowles said. “He is really watching a lot more film and he has really been trying to do it physically the last couple of years and not mentally from that standpoint. He is recognizing formations and is understanding what guys are trying to do to him and looking at splits more and seeing down and distance and that has really helped him play the game a lot easier and looser and a lot smarter and I think he has really capitalized on that.”

The Buccaneers return to action in Week 6, with McCollum expected to draw another high-profile assignment as Tampa Bay’s top cover cornerback.
