TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will bring back their original 1976 white jerseys for a second straight season, wearing the throwback uniforms when they host the Los Angeles Chargers at Raymond James Stadium on December 6.
The franchise had planned the retro look as a one-year celebration of its 50th season in 2025, but fan and player response was so overwhelmingly positive that the team reversed course. The Buccaneers first returned to their Creamsicle roots for games dating back to 2009, but the 2025 campaign marked the first time since the franchise’s inaugural 1976 season that the original white-on-white uniforms were worn in a game.
The jerseys proved to be a good-luck charm last season. The Bucs wore them in a 29-27 Week Three win over the New York Jets and a 38-35 Week Five victory in Seattle, where the Seahawks also wore uniforms modeled on their own inaugural 1976 season.
The 2026 version will replicate the original design — orange numbers with red outlines and the signature sleeve pattern of one orange stripe between two red ones, paired with white helmets, white pants and striped socks. One new detail: the words “Hey! Hey! Tampa Bay!” are stitched inside the jersey collar, a nod to the franchise’s first fight song, which debuted in 1979 as the team made the playoffs in just its fourth season.
The jerseys were developed in collaboration with Nike, the NFL’s exclusive uniform provider, using the company’s Vapor F.U.S.E. lightweight stretch-woven fabric made from 85% recycled material. The design incorporates Nike’s Dri-FIT technology and precision laser perforations for airflow.
