Controversial “looksmaxxing” influencer Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Peters, was hospitalized in Miami Tuesday night after a suspected overdose that was partially captured on a livestream, his representative confirmed. The 20-year-old influencer was at a restaurant in the Brickell shopping area when he became unresponsive during a broadcast with fellow livestreamer Androgenic. Miami police confirmed they were called to assist Miami Fire Rescue at 8:46 p.m.
“Clavicular had a suspected overdose last night, and he was hospitalized,” Mitchell Jackson, his representative, told NBC News. “We have no further comment.” Miami Fire-Rescue said in a statement that it was called to the Brickell shopping area about “a male suffering a medical emergency” Tuesday night, but when first responders arrived, the individual was already gone. “We did not make patient contact and do not know who the individual was and cleared the scene,” the statement said. Miami Fire-Rescue officials said the individual was “possibly rushed away in a vehicle” before they were able to make contact with him.
Video of the incident appears to show Peters sitting in a restaurant booth with two other influencers, including Androgenic. “Holy f—,” Peters says while rubbing his eyes and leaning his head back, according to a clip of the livestream shared to social media. “Dude, I’m gone,” he told Androgenic, slurring his words. The third man then asked someone off-screen for a glass of water. Later, Androgenic asked whether Peters wanted an “addy,” or adderall, a common ADHD medication that is often abused. Video shows Peters’ head slumping forward before the stream abruptly cut out.
Androgenic said in a Tuesday night post on X that he “hadn’t seen [Clavicular] in this state before, and he went from speaking to being fairly unresponsive in mere seconds.” He described the rapid response from those present at the scene. “Within a minute we all realised the situation, turned the stream off, picked him up and rushed him to the hospital,” Androgenic added. It was not immediately clear which substance or substances Peters may have consumed prior to the suspected overdose.
Peters appears to have been released from the hospital, as he took to X Wednesday morning to discuss the ordeal. “Just got home, that was brutal,” he wrote, attaching a selfie that showed what appeared to be blood or cuts on his face. “All of the substances are just a cope trying to feel neurotypical while being in public, but obviously that isn’t a real solution,” Peters wrote. “The worst part of tonight was my face descending from the life support mask.”
Peters had reportedly been determined to show up at Miami Beach’s first streaming nightclub, Bacara Club, where tables are reportedly selling for thousands of dollars. The space encourages influencers to livestream, solving issues where streamers are being banned from conventional venues. “I hope that that will be a wake up call for him,” said C-C Walknine, someone associated with the Bacara Club.
The hospitalization is the latest in a string of legal and personal troubles for the influencer. About two weeks ago, Peters was arrested by police in Fort Lauderdale on a warrant out of Osceola County for misdemeanor battery and conspiracy to commit battery. A 19-year-old woman had accused a 24-year-old woman of battering her in a home rented by the influencer. “Detectives determined that Braden Peters instigated the fight and posted it on social media to exploit the two women,” the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said at the time. Court records indicate that Peters has not yet entered a plea in the case.
Clavicular is known online for “looksmaxxing,” the belief that appearance can be deliberately optimized through fitness, grooming and style. The influencer has been known to take this to the extreme, with “bone smashing,” or using a hammer to intentionally break facial bones so they grow back stronger or looking better. His content and opinions are widely controversial. He most recently walked out of his “60 Minutes Australia” interview after being asked about controversial social media personality Andrew Tate. “I could teach you about looksmaxxing, and then maybe you could switch that up. But thanks for the time. Appreciate the interview,” he said before standing up from his chair and taking off his microphone.
Peters’ Osceola County battery case remains pending, with no plea yet entered according to court records.
