TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed state Rep. Jenna Persons-Mulicka, a Fort Myers attorney and Republican lawmaker representing Florida House District 78, as Lee County Supervisor of Elections.
Persons-Mulicka is a founding partner and attorney at Strayhorn & Persons-Mulicka. Her appointment places a sitting legislator — and licensed attorney with a juris doctor from The George Washington University — at the helm of election administration in one of Southwest Florida’s largest counties. Lee County, home to Fort Myers and Cape Coral, has more than 500,000 registered voters and has been a reliably Republican stronghold in recent cycles.
The appointment adds an elections post to a résumé already steeped in civic engagement. Persons-Mulicka serves on the Florida Commission on the Status of Women and co-chairs the Lee County Bar Association’s History Committee. She is the recipient of the Fort Myers Housing Authority Community Impact Award and the 2022 Autism Acceptance Awards Champion of the Year.
Persons-Mulicka earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and government from Evangel University before completing her law degree at George Washington. Her legal background and legislative experience give her direct familiarity with Florida election law — a subject the Legislature has revisited repeatedly since passing a sweeping election-integrity overhaul in 2021 and additional reforms in subsequent sessions.
The appointment means Persons-Mulicka will vacate her District 78 House seat, triggering a special election process under Florida law. DeSantis’s office did not specify the circumstances that created the vacancy in the supervisor’s office.
Persons-Mulicka is expected to begin her duties as Lee County Supervisor of Elections ahead of the 2026 election cycle, which includes statewide primary and general elections in August and November.
