MIAMI — The Miami Dolphins signed running back De’Von Achane to a contract extension through the 2030 season Wednesday, locking up the franchise’s most explosive offensive weapon entering his fourth NFL season.

Achane is coming off a Pro Bowl 2025 campaign in which he led the NFL in yards per carry at 5.7, rushed for 1,350 yards — the third-most in a single season in franchise history — and posted 1,838 yards from scrimmage, the second-highest single-season total in team history. The South Florida media who regularly cover the Dolphins voted him the 2025 Dan Marino Most Valuable Player.

The former Texas A&M standout has appeared in 44 career games with 36 starts across three seasons with Miami (2023-25), compiling 544 carries for 3,057 yards (5.6 average) and 22 touchdowns on the ground. Through the air, Achane has added 172 receptions for 1,277 yards (7.4 average) and 13 scores. He has also appeared in one postseason game with the Dolphins.

Achane has rewritten the Dolphins’ record book at the running back position since arriving as a third-round selection (84th overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft. He set franchise records for receptions (78) and receiving touchdowns (six) by a running back in 2024 and tied for the second-most touchdowns scored from scrimmage by a rookie (11) in 2023. His career yards-per-carry mark of 5.6 is also a franchise record, and his 3,057 career rushing yards rank eighth in team history.

The extension keeps Achane under contract in Miami through the 2030 season, giving the Dolphins long-term stability at a position that has been central to their offensive identity. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team.
