MIAMI — The Miami Dolphins traded quarterback Quinn Ewers to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round draft pick, the team announced, pending a physical.
Ewers appeared in four career games with three starts in one season with Miami in 2025, completing 55-of-83 passing attempts for 622 yards (66.3 pct.) and three touchdowns with three interceptions. The Dolphins selected him in the seventh round (231st overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The deal sends the former Texas Longhorn to an AFC South rival for modest draft compensation — a late-round pick two years out — suggesting Miami’s quarterback room has moved past the 2025 seventh-rounder after a limited audition.
Ewers played collegiately at Texas from 2022 to 2024, where he started 36 games and completed 737-of-1,135 passing attempts (64.9 pct.) for 9,128 yards and 68 touchdowns with 24 interceptions. He was a two-time second-team all-conference selection — earning the honor in the Big 12 in 2023 and in the SEC in 2024 — and received Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honorable mention in 2022.
At Texas, Ewers led the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff Semifinals following both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He guided the program to a Big 12 Championship in 2023 and helped Texas reach the SEC Championship Game in 2024 during the school’s first year in the conference.
Ewers must pass a physical with Jacksonville before the trade is finalized.
