Eight people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Flagler Street and Southwest 82nd Avenue in southwest Miami-Dade Saturday afternoon. The Florida Highway Patrol said the collision happened around 12:15 p.m., involving a black Hyundai sedan, a Toyota SUV and a Ford coupe. All eight occupants involved were transported to HCA Kendall Hospital with injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a man, suffered serious injuries, while the front passenger, also a man, was listed in critical condition. People who work nearby helped rescue the two men from the vehicle. “He collapse down and then we noticed that his leg seemed to be broken and he was trying to get up and then he kept referencing somebody in the car and that’s when we noticed that somebody else was in the vehicle,” said Alberto Romero.

Witness Efrain Gonzalez described the severity of the injuries he observed at the scene. “He had a passenger,” said Gonzalez. “He was in very bad shape. He was just in an odd position. I called over to the first sheriff who came. I said I need you urgent here.” The witness accounts highlight the immediate response from bystanders who assisted before emergency responders arrived.

West Flagler Street was shut down for about four hours as crews conducted a preliminary investigation into the collision. The extended closure affected traffic flow through the busy southwest Miami-Dade corridor during Saturday afternoon hours. The intersection of West Flagler Street and Southwest 82nd Avenue serves as a major thoroughfare connecting residential and commercial areas in the region.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to the three-vehicle collision or the identities of those involved. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine what factors contributed to the serious accident that sent eight people to the hospital.
