TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State University baseball will host the Tallahassee Regional starting May 30 at Dick Howser Stadium, where they will face Bethune-Cookman at 3 p.m. The Seminoles earned the No. 9 national seed in the NCAA Championships and are looking to secure their first national championship. This marks the 61st postseason appearance for the program, which has a storied history in NCAA play.
“This is not going to be easy. But I’m proud of the position we’re in. I’m proud of the fact that our fans get to enjoy this type of baseball in Howser Stadium, and that’s one of the advantages you have - the Animals and the fans on our side,” said Link Jarrett, head coach of the Seminoles. Florida State enters the tournament with a 38-14 overall record, including a strong 24-7 at home and 12-6 on the road.
The Seminoles will continue their quest for a national title against a competitive field that includes Northeastern and Mississippi State. Florida State finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with a .630 winning percentage, going 17-10 in conference play. They were one of three ACC teams to host a regional and one of nine selected in the 64-team field.
“We have one of the best fan bases in the nation. I wholeheartedly believe that. It’s great to be here in the regular season playing with them, so it’s going to be even more fun in the postseason,” said Gage Harrelson, a junior outfielder. The Seminoles are looking to build on last year’s success, where they reached the national semifinals after a strong showing in the Tallahassee Regional.
Florida State has a rich NCAA Championship history, with a record of 207-134 all-time in NCAA play, including 155-63 in the Regional round. They have hosted an NCAA Regional for the 37th time, and their postseason appearances rank second all-time, only behind Texas. The team’s first NCAA berth came in 1956, and they have made 24 College World Series appearances, the third most in history.
The Seminoles’ performance this season has been impressive, with a .314 batting average and 93 home runs. Junior infielder Alex Lodise leads the team with a .415 batting average and 66 RBIs, while junior outfielder Max Williams has also contributed significantly with 17 home runs. The pitching staff has a collective 4.79 ERA, allowing 236 earned runs over 443.2 innings.
The Tallahassee Regional will feature a double-elimination format, with games scheduled for May 30 through June 2. If necessary, a final game will be played on June 3. All-session general admission tickets are currently available at Seminoles.com/Tickets, with individual game tickets going on sale prior to each game. The opening game against Bethune-Cookman will be broadcast live on ACC Network, while the rest of the weekend’s matchups will air on ESPN+.
As the Seminoles prepare for their first game, fans are encouraged to support the team as they aim to advance to the next stage of the tournament. The excitement surrounding the Tallahassee Regional is palpable, and the Seminoles are determined to capitalize on their home-field advantage as they pursue their ultimate goal of a national championship.
