Florida State golfer Sophia Fullbrook leads the individual standings by two strokes after two rounds at the Coach Mo Classic in St. Augustine, while the No. 16 Seminoles women’s golf team sits tied for second place at St. Johns Golf Club. Fullbrook finished at 5-under, 139 after shooting a second-round score of 5-under, 67 following an opening round of even, 72. The Seminoles are positioned at 6-over, 582, just two strokes back from tournament leaders Furman after matching rounds of 3-over, 291.
“We had a solid day today,” FSU head coach Amy Bond said. “We gave ourselves a shot tomorrow, being two strokes back from the lead. Our team is getting a lot of work in, and we’ll have the opportunity tomorrow to make improvements and be in contention.” Fullbrook’s second round featured seven pars before she made an eagle on the par-five, 473-yard eighth hole. She maintained momentum with four birdies on the back nine to jump to the top of the individual leaderboard.
Haruhi Nakatani sits in 14th place at 3-over, 147 after opening with a 75 and improving to shoot even par, 72 in windy conditions during the second round. Nakatani carded four birdies in her second round performance. Alexandra Gazzoli led the Seminoles in the first round, carding five birdies to finish 4-under, 68 and claim the early individual lead before struggling to an 82 in the second round.
The tournament marks Florida State’s first appearance at the Coach Mo Classic, which began in 2025 with Purdue taking the inaugural title. The Seminoles entered as one of two top-25 teams in the 15-team field, ranked 16th in the Scoreboard poll alongside No. 12 UCF. Fullbrook, ranked 23rd nationally, won the Florida State Match Up title the previous week with a 10-under, 206 performance.
Freya Russell posted rounds of 76 and 72 to tie with Gazzoli for 28th place at 6-over, 150. Haley Davis sits tied for 49th at 12-over, 154 after rounds of 76 and 78, while Layla Pedrique finished at 10-over, 152 with scores of 75 and 77. The current team standings show Furman leading at 4-over, followed by Florida State and Purdue tied at 6-over, with UCF at 11-over in fourth place.
Florida State secured its second victory of the season at the Florida State Match Up at home, finishing 4-under as a team. Elin Pudas Remler followed Fullbrook’s victory with a top-10 finish, taking fourth place at 2-under in that tournament. The Coach Mo Classic represents the final regular season tournament for the Seminoles before postseason play begins.
The final 18 holes of play will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start at St. Johns Golf Club. Live scoring will be available on Clippd throughout the final round as teams compete for the tournament championship.
