FORT LAUDERDALE — Inter Miami CF transferred homegrown midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi to Italian Serie A club Parma Calcio 1913 on Saturday, making the 21-year-old the first Inter Miami academy product to secure a permanent move to one of Europe’s top leagues.
Parma triggered the purchase option after Cremaschi spent last season on loan with the Italian side, where he made nine appearances in all competitions. The U.S. international recorded 8 goals and 9 assists in 107 appearances across all competitions during his time with Miami, helping the club win Leagues Cup 2023 and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield.
“Seeing a player who grew up in our academy, debuted with the first team, and is now making the leap to European football is a source of immense pride for everyone at Inter Miami. There is no greater satisfaction for a club, and this is the model we want to solidify,” said sporting director Alberto Marrero.
Marrero framed the transfer as validation of the South Florida club’s development pipeline. “Benja demonstrates that talent, coupled with a solid development process and real opportunities with the first team, can lead our players to compete in the best leagues in the world,” he said.
The move marks a milestone for an Inter Miami academy that has operated in the shadow of the club’s high-profile senior signings. Cremaschi’s path — from academy to first-team contributor on two title-winning squads to a Serie A roster — gives the organization a concrete case study as it works to establish itself as a talent exporter.
Parma, which returned to Serie A after promotion, will have Cremaschi under contract for the upcoming Italian league season, which is set to begin in August.
