FORT LAUDERDALE — Inter Miami CF has loaned Homegrown midfielder David Ruíz, 22, to Red Bull New York through the conclusion of the 2026 MLS season, the club announced, with New York holding an option to buy at the loan’s end.
Inter Miami will receive $75,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money as part of the trade agreement. The move sends one of the club’s most decorated young players to the New York side as Ruíz seeks more regular playing time.
Ruíz signed as a Homegrown Player in 2023 and was part of the Inter Miami squads that captured the club’s first two titles — the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield. The 2024 Shield campaign saw Inter Miami establish the MLS single-season points record.
The midfielder carved out a notable place in club history on May 13, 2023, when he became Inter Miami’s first Academy product to score for the First Team, netting a goal in a 2-1 regular-season home win against the New England Revolution.
Ruíz joined the Inter Miami Academy in 2021 with the U-17 side and progressed through the club’s development pathway, featuring for Inter Miami II before signing with the First Team in 2023 as the sixth Academy product to do so.
Red Bull New York will have the remainder of the 2026 MLS season to evaluate Ruíz before deciding whether to exercise its purchase option at the conclusion of the loan.
