FORT LAUDERDALE — Inter Miami have reclaimed the top spot in the MLS Power Rankings after extending their winning streak to six games, powered by three goals from Luis Suárez across two matches while Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul rested following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The defending MLS Cup presented by Audi champions earned a 3-2 win over Chicago and a 1-0 victory at Montréal despite being notably shorthanded. New midfielder Casemiro debuted against Montréal and looked effective as expected on the ball in his first appearance for the club.

Orlando City turned in the most impressive week of any Florida club, with Antoine Griezmann scoring on his debut in a 4-0 rout of San Jose. Eduard Atuesta added three assists in that win. The Lions followed it with a 1-0 victory over Nashville — the league’s top team entering the week — with Tyrese Spicer scoring off a spectacular Justin Ellis assist. Back-to-back shutouts marked a significant defensive turnaround for Orlando.

Chicago’s slide complicates the Eastern Conference picture. Star center back Mbekezeli Mbokazi will miss a significant period following a thigh tear in training, and Golden Boot presented by Audi-leading striker Hugo Cuypers departed for CF Monterrey. The Robert Lewandowski era opened with a two-loss week.

In the Western Conference, LAFC, Vancouver and San Jose are tied on points atop the table, though San Jose have managed just one win in their last seven matches. The Earthquakes lost 4-0 to Orlando City and drew 1-1 with the LA Galaxy after Timo Werner had a potential game-winning penalty saved. The Galaxy signed former Celtic star striker Kyōgo Furuhashi but lost 3-1 to St. Louis before salvaging a draw in the Cali Clásico thanks to a saved stoppage-time penalty.

Seattle’s struggles deepened with five consecutive losses and a 9-2 goal deficit across three post-World Cup break matches. Portland named Martí Cifuentes, most recently of Leicester City, as their new head coach — the first Timbers head coach without prior experience in the United States. Portland have earned seven points from three matches since the break.
