JACKSONVILLE — Quarterback Trevor Lawrence received every offensive vote to earn team captain honors for a sixth consecutive season, Head Coach Liam Coen announced as the Jaguars named eight captains for the 2026 season.
“If you’re a teammate of Trevor and you see what he’s gone through to get to where he’s at, it hasn’t just been like this smooth straight line,” Coen said. “He has dealt with some stuff. He has dealt with some highs, some lows, some adversity in his career - injuries, whatever it is - and come out on the other side of things.”
Lawrence is joined on the offensive side by center Robert Hainsey and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Defensive captains are defensive end Josh Hines-Allen, linebacker Foyesade Oluokun and cornerback Jourdan Lewis. Long snapper Ross Matiscik and punter Logan Cooke round out the group on special teams.
Meyers and Matiscik are first-time Jaguars captains. “The additions of Jakobi Meyers and Ross really gave us two new guys that weren’t on the crew last year, and they’re pretty obvious as to what their impact and influence has been on this team,” Coen said. Meyers joined the team last season.
The remaining six — Lawrence, Hainsey, Hines-Allen, Oluokun, Lewis and Cooke — all held the title last season. Hines-Allen has been named captain for a sixth time in eight Jaguars seasons. Oluokun has earned the honor in all five of his Jaguars seasons. Cooke has been named captain for a fourth time in nine seasons, while Hainsey and Lewis have been captains in both of their seasons with the team.
“We had a ton of guys on this team get votes and get a decent amount of votes,” Coen said. “It wasn’t just like the one or two that you get because you’re friends with somebody. There were a lot of quality human beings and people in the mix to become captains.”
Coen said he will again name a rotating captain for each game to continue developing the team’s leadership group. The Jaguars open the 2026 regular season this week.
