JACKSONVILLE — The Jaguars open 2026 training camp this week at the Miller Electric Center with two-way star Travis Hunter expected to participate from the start as the AFC South champions chase their first back-to-back postseason appearances since 1998-1999.
Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, missed the final 10 games of his rookie season and the on-field portion of the offseason program after a Week 9 knee injury. The wide receiver/cornerback has added weight and strength and reportedly ran 22.6 mph late in the offseason. Hunter is expected to play extensively on both offense and defense, with his workload at each position a central storyline through camp.
Rookies and quarterbacks reported Friday, veterans report Monday, and the first practice is set for Tuesday. The first padded practice is scheduled for Aug. 3. Head coach Liam Coen enters his second season after coaching the Jaguars to a 13-4 record — becoming the first rookie head coach in NFL history to lead his team to 13 or more victories after that team won four or fewer the previous season.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, finished fifth in NFL Most Valuable Player voting after his career-best 2025 season. Third-year wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. stood out during the offseason program, with Coen praising the quarterback-receiver connection throughout organized team activities and minicamp. Thomas struggled at times in 2025 after a Pro Bowl rookie season but would bolster a receiving corps that already includes Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers and Hunter.
The Jaguars used the 2026 NFL Draft to add multiple tight ends — Nate Boerkircher of Texas A&M in Round 2 and Tanner Koziol of Houston in Round 5 — to better employ 12 and 13 personnel packages. The 10-player draft class also included defensive tackle Albert Regis (Texas A&M, Round 3), guard Emmanuel Pregnon (Oregon, Round 3) and safety Jalen Huskey (Maryland, Round 3).
Key position battles include Wyatt Milum, Patrick Mekari and Pregnon at guard; Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs at outside linebacker; Danny Striggow, B.J. Green II, Wesley Williams and Zach Durfee behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker at defensive end; and Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez Jr. and LeQuint Allen Jr. at running back.
Coen’s camp schedule emphasizes joint practices over preseason games for preparing starters. The Jaguars will hold dual sessions with all three preseason opponents: at the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 13, with the Carolina Panthers in Jacksonville on Aug. 19, and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Jacksonville on Aug. 25-26. The preseason opener is at the Saints’ Caesars Superdome on Aug. 15 at 4 p.m., followed by home games against the Panthers on Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. and the Buccaneers on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
