JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired quarterback Quinn Ewers from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2028 NFL Draft, the team announced, adding a 23-year-old passer with College Football Playoff experience to their roster.
The deal is pending a physical. Ewers was originally drafted by Miami in the seventh round — 231st overall — of the 2025 NFL Draft. He played in four games for the Dolphins last season, making three starts and completing 55-of-83 passes (66.3%) for 622 yards and three touchdowns.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Ewers brings a substantial college résumé to Jacksonville. He played at Texas from 2022 to 2024 and spent the 2021 season at Ohio State. Across his college career, Ewers completed 737-of-1,135 passes for 9,128 yards and 68 touchdowns. He led the Longhorns to College Football Playoff appearances in two of his three seasons with the program.
The trade gives Jacksonville a young quarterback with starting experience at a minimal draft-capital cost. Ewers’ 66.3% completion rate in limited NFL action and his production across three seasons at Texas suggest a player the Jaguars believe still has developmental upside.
Ewers is expected to complete his physical and join the Jaguars’ roster ahead of the regular season.
