JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Jaguars signed long snapper Ross Matiscik to a two-year contract extension, the team announced, rewarding a specialist whose 22 special teams tackles are tied for the most in the NFL at his position.

“Ross’ consistency and ability to get down the field and make plays on special teams gives us an edge in that phase of the game,” General Manager James Gladstone said. “He has played at an elite level for several seasons and is at the top of the league at what he does.”

Matiscik, 29, has earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in each of the last three seasons — a run that places him in rare franchise company. Only offensive lineman Tony Boselli and wide receiver Jimmy Smith have more Pro Bowl selections in Jaguars history, with five each.

The McKinney, Texas, native has spent six seasons in Jacksonville after signing as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Baylor in 2020. He has appeared in 101 games as a Jaguar. In 2025, Matiscik played 140 special teams snaps and produced four tackles, tied for third in the league among long snappers.

His work anchored a special teams unit that produced measurable results across the board. Punter Logan Cooke posted a 43.0-yard net punting average in 2025, the fourth-best mark in the AFC, while kicker Cam Little set a franchise record with 140 points scored, fifth most in the NFL this season.

At Baylor, Matiscik played long snapper and linebacker over five years from 2016 to 2019, appearing in 52 games and totaling 29 tackles before going undrafted.

The Jaguars open training camp in late July at the Miller Electric Center in Jacksonville.
