JACKSONVILLE — Jaguars two-way star Travis Hunter said he felt little rust in his return from a nearly year-long absence, playing 33 snaps in Jacksonville’s 34-10 rout of the Cleveland Browns and now preparing for a homecoming trip to Denver for Week 2.

“I felt great,” Hunter said Thursday as the AFC South-leading Jaguars (1-0) prepared to face the Broncos (0-1) at Empower Field at Mile High at 4:05 p.m. Sunday. “Just me getting on the football field and just getting back comfortable with myself, and it took me about a drive or two to realize I was playing football again.”

Hunter, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft and the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner at the University of Colorado, logged 29 snaps at cornerback and four at receiver against Cleveland — his first game action since Week 7 of the 2025 season. He was targeted in coverage just once, a sign defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile took as encouraging.

“He moved around really good,” Campanile said. “He didn’t get a lot of ops, for sure, so that’s usually a good thing at corner. Overall he really did a good job and his eyes, his feet, all that stuff, looked good. Getting back, first game, I thought that was a great start for him.”

Sunday will be Hunter’s first professional game in Denver. He traveled with the Jaguars for their 34-20 Week 16 victory over the Broncos last season but did not play. “It felt like I just did my job to be able to go to the next level and be able to go back there and play,” Hunter said, adding that his goal moving forward is to “just go out there and play football. Do what I do, and that’s just be great on both sides of the ball.”

Five Jaguars players were listed as limited on Thursday’s injury report: running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip), wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder), wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (thumb), right tackle Cole Van Lanen (knee) and linebacker Foye Oluokun (wrist). Cornerback Christian Braswell was added with a knee issue but practiced in full.

Offensive coordinator Grant Udinski praised another Jacksonville newcomer, rookie left guard Emmanuel Pregnon, a third-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft and one of just two Jaguars rookies to start on offense in Week 1 under Head Coach Liam Coen. “He’s a guy that wants to be right and wants to understand the details of the different things we’re putting into a game plan,” Udinski said.

Campanile also addressed the challenge posed by Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, whom he coached during Waddle’s first three seasons (2021-2023) with the Miami Dolphins before Denver acquired him this past offseason. Waddle caught one pass for two yards in a 31-10 Broncos loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, but Campanile cautioned against reading too much into one game. “He’s a hell of a player,” Campanile said. “He gives them a guy that can stretch the field a little bit, a guy that’s caught the ball over the middle of the field throughout the course of his career and a guy that can do things after the catch with the ball.”

Kickoff in Denver is set for 4:05 p.m. Sunday.
