TAMPA BAY — The Tampa Bay Lightning signed defenseman Tomas Kralovic to a three-year, entry-level contract, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced, locking up the 20-year-old Slovak blueliner the club selected in the third round, 90th overall, of the 2026 NHL Draft.

Kralovic arrives after a productive 2025-26 season with HC Slovan Bratislava of the Slovakian league, where the 6-foot-3, 203-pound defenseman recorded six goals and 31 points in 52 regular-season games with a plus-17 rating. He added four goals and six points across 17 playoff games for Bratislava, demonstrating the offensive upside that caught Tampa Bay’s attention.

The signing adds size and puck-moving ability to a Lightning defensive pipeline that has leaned heavily on development from European leagues. Kralovic also represented Slovakia at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, skating in five games and tallying two assists on the international stage.

Tampa Bay’s decision to move quickly on Kralovic’s entry-level deal — shortly after drafting him — signals the organization views him as a prospect capable of competing for NHL minutes sooner rather than later. The Lightning have historically used entry-level contracts to fast-track European defensemen through their American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, before promoting them to the NHL roster.
