FORT LAUDERDALE - Leo Messi will play his final match for Argentina on Oct. 6 in Buenos Aires, headlining a September and October FIFA international window that will pull nine Inter Miami CF players to national team duty across four continents.
Messi and fellow Inter Miami midfielder Rodrigo De Paul have been called up by Argentina for a friendly against Benin at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. The match will mark the end of an international career in which Messi became Argentina’s most capped player at 207 appearances and its all-time leading scorer with 125 goals, while captaining La Albiceleste to the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024.
Forward Germán Berterame will represent Mexico in a four-match friendly series across the United States, facing Colombia on Sept. 26, Peru on Sept. 29, the USA on Oct. 3, and Chile on Oct. 6 in preparation for Mexico’s upcoming Concacaf Nations League campaign. Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, who previously featured for Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, earned a call-up for matches against Chile on Sept. 26, Peru on Oct. 3, and the USA on Oct. 6 ahead of the 2026/2027 Concacaf Nations League.
Midfielder Matías Galarza, also a 2026 World Cup participant, joins Paraguay for friendlies against Bolivia on Sept. 27 and Colombia on Oct. 2. Inter Miami noted it is Galarza’s first international call-up as an Inter Miami player. Defender Fricio Caicedo earned his second call-up to the Ecuadorian national team - his first since joining the club - for matches against South Korea on Sept. 24 and Japan on Oct. 1.
Attacker Lovend’s Delinois earned his first call-up for Haiti, who will compete in the Nations League A Group Stage of the 2026/2027 Concacaf Nations League. Haiti, drawn into Group A, face Trinidad and Tobago on Sept. 24, Costa Rica on Sept. 27, the Dominican Republic on Oct. 1, and Costa Rica again on Oct. 4.
Two younger Inter Miami players round out the nine. Academy graduate Daniel Pinter joins the U.S. U-20 national team for friendlies in San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia, facing Brazil on Oct. 1 and Denmark on Oct. 4. Midfielder Alexander Shaw, who featured in the Concacaf U-20 Championship over the summer, travels with the U.S. U-19 national team to Marbella, Spain, for matches against Wales on Sept. 29, England on Oct. 2, and Norway on Oct. 5.
