MIAMI - The Miami Dolphins waived running back Carlos Washington Jr., the team announced, cutting short the NFL tenure of an undrafted back who appeared in just two career games across two seasons.

Washington Jr. signed with Miami on May 21, 2026, and worked through part of the offseason program and training camp before spending the first three weeks of the season on the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster in Week 4 but never found a foothold on the depth chart.

Before joining the Dolphins, Washington Jr. spent two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, where he entered the league in 2023 as an undrafted college free agent. His two career NFL appearances both came during his time in Atlanta in 2024-25.

Washington Jr. built his college resume across two programs over six seasons. He spent five years at New Hampshire from 2017 to 2021 before finishing his collegiate career at Southeastern Louisiana in 2022. Over 45 games and 29 starts, he carried the ball 511 times for 2,475 yards, a 4.8-yard average, and 25 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 87 passes for 611 yards, a 7.0-yard average, and two receiving scores.

The Dolphins did not announce a corresponding roster move. Miami’s next roster deadline is the NFL’s standard Tuesday waiver wire cycle, during which Washington Jr. could be claimed by another team or revert to free agency.
