MIAMI - The Miami Heat locked up guard Pelle Larsson on a contract extension, the team announced, rewarding a player who emerged as one of the club’s most consistent contributors last season while also leading Sweden to a historic run in international competition.
Larsson appeared in 70 games with 54 starts last season, averaging 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 26.4 minutes per game while shooting 49.6 percent from the field. He tied for the team lead in charges taken and finished third in assists, free throws made and dunks. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Swedish guard led the Heat in scoring four times, steals 10 times, minutes and assists seven times each, plus/minus on six occasions and blocks five times. He scored in double figures 42 times, including a career-long nine consecutive games from March 5 through March 21. His eight 20-point games included a career-high 28-point performance against Milwaukee on March 12. He also dished out a career-high nine assists without a single turnover at Sacramento on Jan. 20.
Larsson carried that form into the summer, averaging a team-leading 26.0 points across four games for Sweden at the 2026 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers. He scored 19 against Czechia, 31 against Slovenia, 31 against Finland and 23 against France. He also helped Sweden reach the knockout round of FIBA EuroBasket 2025 for the first time in the nation’s history.
