A 20-year-old Miami mother avoided prison time after pleading guilty to attempting to hire a hitman to kill her 3-year-old son through a satirical website. Jazmin Paez was sentenced to probation after admitting to submitting a request on rentahitman.com to have her toddler killed before the end of the week. She provided photos of the child and detailed the exact location where he could be found, according to investigators.

Paez faced up to 40 years in prison but received a withhold of adjudication, meaning she will not be legally classified as a convicted felon. She was sentenced to two years of community control, 12 years of reporting probation, and mandatory behavioral therapy until no longer deemed necessary. Her parental rights were previously terminated in dependency court, and she is barred from contacting the child until her probation ends in 2040.

The website’s owner, Robert Innes, told NBC6 Miami that he receives hundreds of similar solicitations daily, most of which are clearly jokes or fake. “The ability to research names and addresses and verify the intended target lived at a particular address-that to me is a red flag,” Innes said. “If that information is corroborated, that is something that needs to be looked at, and that’s why I referred it.”

Paez was arrested in July 2023 after Innes reported her request to authorities. On Monday, she pleaded guilty to soliciting first-degree murder, unlawful use of a communications device, and tampering with evidence. In exchange, prosecutors offered the withhold of adjudication deal that kept her out of prison.

Attorneys noted that the child has since been adopted by Paez’s mother, while Paez currently lives with her biological father. In court, Paez stated that she has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. The case highlights the unusual nature of rentahitman.com, which presents itself as a parody site but has led to multiple arrests when people submit genuine requests for violence.

Paez’s case represents one of several instances where the satirical website has been used by individuals genuinely seeking to harm others. The site’s owner continues to monitor submissions and report credible threats to law enforcement agencies. Paez will remain under court supervision until 2040 as part of her probation agreement.
