The National Hurricane Center has issued storm surge watches and warnings for Tropical Storm Isaias, alerting coastal residents to the danger of life-threatening inundation from rising water moving inland from the shoreline.
A storm surge warning means life-threatening inundation is expected within 36 hours in the affected area; a storm surge watch means such inundation is possible within 48 hours. The NHC urged all residents, whether or not they fall within the highlighted zones, to follow evacuation orders and instructions from local emergency management officials immediately.
