ORLANDO — Orlando City will host Club León at Inter.co Stadium on Saturday in a Leagues Cup 2026 matchup that marks the first meeting between the two clubs, with the Lions riding momentum from a 2-1 win over C.F. Monterrey and a surging attack led by 2018 FIFA World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann and forward Tyrese Spicer.
Griezmann scored his first goal at Inter.co Stadium in the Monterrey win, volleying in a Spicer cross at the near post for his second goal across all competitions since his summer arrival from Atlético de Madrid. The finish helped deliver Orlando City’s first win of Leagues Cup 2026.
Spicer has been the Lions’ most dangerous attacker over the past three matches, tallying five goal contributions — three goals and two assists — including the assist on Griezmann’s opener and a converted second-half penalty that doubled Orlando’s advantage against Monterrey. His six goals in all competitions rank second on the team behind Designated Player Martín Ojeda, who leads the club with 11 goals. Ojeda needs three goals to tie Facundo Torres’ club record of 47 across all competitions and is five assists from matching Mauricio Pereyra’s club record of 47.
Saturday’s contest will be Orlando City’s 14th match against Liga MX opposition across all competitions. The Lions own a 4W-2L-7D record against Mexican clubs.
The match also features the return of familiar faces to the Orlando lineup. Forward Daryl Dike made his first appearance for the Lions since rejoining the club this summer, his first match in purple since the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs after a move to West Bromwich Albion F.C. in January 2022. Dike scored 19 goals and added seven assists in 41 appearances across all competitions during his first stint with Orlando, including a team-leading 11 goals in 2021.
Designated Player Marco Pašalić also returned against Monterrey as a second-half substitute, his first appearance since the club’s May 23 match against FC Cincinnati. The Croatian international, who represented his country at the FIFA World Cup 2026, has recorded two goals in 11 appearances across all competitions this season and 17 goals since joining the Lions ahead of their 2025 campaign.
Several milestones are within reach Saturday. Iván Angulo is one assist away from becoming the third player in club history to reach 40 assists across all competitions for Orlando City, and Eduard Atuesta’s next appearance will be his 50th across all competitions for the Lions.
