SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Tyrese Spicer scored in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to rescue a 3-3 draw for Orlando City SC (7-11-4, 25 points) at Minnesota United FC (7-7-8, 29 points) at Allianz Field, capping a match in which the Lions surrendered a two-goal lead in four minutes before clawing back a point.
Orlando City controlled the first 70 minutes. Daryl Dike, making his first MLS start since returning to the club this summer, opened the scoring in the 28th minute by outmuscling defenders in the six-yard box and firing from a narrow angle. Antoine Griezmann doubled the lead in the 64th minute after Justin Ellis fed him in transition for a one-on-one with goalkeeper Alec Smir, slotting the ball into the lower right corner for his fifth goal across all competitions since arriving in Orlando.
Minnesota then flipped the match in stunning fashion. Marcus Caldeira pulled one back in the 71st minute, Anthony Markanich equalized in the 74th and Kelvin Yeboah completed the three-goal burst in the 75th to put the hosts ahead 3-2 — all three goals within a span of four minutes.
“What everybody saw is probably 60 minutes really good. We came here, we were winning two-zero and it’s disappointing to be losing three-two with some mistakes we commit. And then the guys did a huge effort. We never stopped fighting, even with those mistakes. We were able to come back to tie. Weird sensation because we were really close to winning, but a point on the road is always point,” interim head coach Martín Perelman said.
Griezmann, the reigning MLS Player of the Matchday, engineered the equalizer himself, picking up a pass in his own half and lofting a long ball down the left wing to Spicer, who drove into the box and finished at the near post. The goal was Spicer’s eighth across all competitions this year and his eighth goal contribution in his last nine games across all competitions. Griezmann now has five goal contributions in his last three matches.
“Frustrating match. I think we worked really hard from minute one. It’s never easy to go anywhere away. We put ourselves in a good position, and unfortunately, collectively, we made a few mistakes that they capitalized on. Frustrating. I think at the beginning, you take a point, but knowing how the game played out, and the quality-the standard-that we have for ourselves, it’s a frustrating one,” forward Daryl Dike said.
Dike’s goal was his second across all competitions in 2026 and his 21st all-time for the Lions, tying former teammate Tesho Akindele for 10th on the club’s all-time scoring charts. It was also his first in MLS play since his move from Orlando City to West Bromwich Albion at the end of the 2021 season. Ellis’s assist was his eighth of the campaign across all competitions, trailing only Iván Angulo’s nine. Perelman made three changes to his starting lineup from the previous match against Real Salt Lake, inserting Dike, Ellis and Joran Gerbet. Defenders Adrián Marín (thigh) and Bernardo Rhein (thigh) and midfielder Braian Ojeda (foot) missed the match due to injury.
