ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic have committed to two of their young building blocks, exercising team options on guard Jase Richardson and forward Tristan da Silva, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced Wednesday, securing both players through the 2027-28 season.
The moves signal the Magic’s confidence in a pair of players who contributed during Orlando’s playoff run last season. Da Silva, a 6-foot-8 forward selected 18th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, appeared in 77 regular-season games with 34 starts, averaging 9.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 24.7 minutes per game while shooting .374 from three-point range and .884 from the free throw line. He scored 20 or more points five times, posting a career-high 26 points against Washington on March 12. Da Silva also played in seven playoff games, averaging 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game.
Richardson, a 6-foot-2 guard born Oct. 16, 2005, played 54 games in his rookie season after one year at Michigan State, averaging 4.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 10.9 minutes per game. He scored in double figures seven times and reached a career-high 20 points at Washington on Jan. 6. Richardson also appeared in one playoff game, scoring six points. At Michigan State, he averaged 12.1 points per game, shot .412 from three-point range and earned All-Big Ten Third Team and Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors while helping the Spartans reach the Elite Eight.
Da Silva, a native of Germany who played for Schwabing in the Regionalliga and IBA Muenchen in the NBBL before coming to the United States, has appeared in 151 career regular-season games with Orlando, all starts included, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists across his two NBA seasons. He spent four seasons at the University of Colorado, playing 124 career games and earning All-Pac-12 First Team honors in 2022-23 before being drafted by Orlando. Per team policy, financial terms of both options were not disclosed. Da Silva wears No. 23 and Richardson wears No. 11 for the Magic.
