CORAL SPRINGS — The Florida Panthers will help host the eighth annual Amerigol LATAM Cup starting Saturday morning, bringing 68 teams and over 1,500 players from non-traditional hockey markets to South Florida for a weeklong international tournament.
The event, which draws teams from Latin America, the Caribbean, South Asia and beyond, will be played at the IceDen in Coral Springs and the Palm Beach Skate Zone. Countries represented include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Israel, Puerto Rico and the Philippines, Florida Hockey Now reported.
“For the eighth consecutive year, we’re proud to host the Amerigol LATAM Cup at Panthers IceDen,” said John Colombo, VP of the Florida Panthers Foundation & Community Relations. “This tournament is a true celebration of culture and the continued growth of hockey across Latin America, the Caribbean communities and beyond.”
The tournament is split into two tiers. The first runs Aug. 1-4 and features the Men’s Senior Division (35-plus), Women’s D-II, U16 Select, U14 Select and U12 Select. The second half runs Aug. 5-9 with Men’s DI, Women’s DI, Men’s D-II and U12 Legacy divisions.
New additions this year include an inaugural Skills Competition and a Sled Hockey Showcase on Saturday and Sunday. The LATAM Cup International All-Star Games will take place next Wednesday at the IceDen from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Attendance to all LATAM Cup events is open to the public, with support from the Panthers, the NHL, the NHLPA and the Industry Growth Fund. Tickets are available at AmerigolHockey.com, and games will be streamed free at AmerigolHockeyTV.
The tournament bridges the gap to the Panthers’ regular-season preparations. NHL free agency opened July 1, with Panthers Rookie Camp set for late August or early September and training camp in Fort Lauderdale in early to mid-September. Florida opens its 2026-27 preseason Sept. 20 against the Carolina Hurricanes, begins the regular season Sept. 29 at Carolina at 5 p.m., and hosts the Minnesota Wild for the home opener Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
