CORAL SPRINGS — The Florida Panthers suspended equipment manager Teddy Richards after his arrest Friday by the Coral Springs Police Department on one count of domestic violence and one count of unauthorized use of 911 services, Florida Hockey Now reported.
Richards, 43, was held at the main Broward County jail in Fort Lauderdale before being released Saturday on his own recognizance, according to the Broward Sheriff’s website. The Panthers said Richards is not allowed to be part of any team activities nor visit any of the team’s facilities while under suspension.
Richards has been with the Panthers since leaving the Pittsburgh Penguins organization in 2016. He was part of two Stanley Cup championship teams with Florida as well as one with the Penguins. He also served as the equipment manager for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics, the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025 and the IIHF World Championship earlier this summer.
The arrest comes as the Panthers prepare for the 2026-27 season. NHL free agency opened July 1, and the team’s rookie camp and tournament are scheduled for late August or early September, with training camp set for early to mid-September in Fort Lauderdale.
Florida opens its four-game preseason schedule Sept. 20 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The regular season begins Sept. 29 at Carolina at 5 p.m., with the home opener against the Minnesota Wild set for Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
