CORAL SPRINGS — The Florida Panthers suspended head equipment manager Teddy Richards after the Coral Springs Police Department arrested him at his suburban Broward County home on charges of domestic violence and unauthorized use of 911 services, Florida Hockey Now reported.
Richards, 43, is being held at the main Broward County jail. Bond had not been set as of Friday evening as he awaits a hearing. The Panthers said Richards has been suspended from “all team activities and facilities pending investigation.”
Richards has served as the Panthers’ equipment manager since 2016 and is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with Florida. He also won a Cup with the 2016 Pittsburgh Penguins, where he served as assistant equipment manager from 2013-16. Before that, he worked on the equipment staff for Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, from 2002-13.
Beyond his NHL career, Richards has worked extensively with Team USA. He served as equipment manager at the 2025 NHL 4 Nations Face-Off, with the gold-winning 2026 Olympic team, and at the IIHF World Championship held earlier this summer.
Richards faces one count of domestic violence and one count of unauthorized use of 911 services. His next court appearance had not been scheduled as of Friday evening.
