A man was shot multiple times at a Pembroke Park bar following an argument inside the establishment, prompting a manhunt for the gunman who fled in a silver SUV. The shooting occurred at Thirsty’s Liquor Bar at 4426 West Hallandale Beach Boulevard, according to Deputy Chief of Police Jason Ochoa. Officers responded to the scene and found the victim outside the business suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

“The victim was conscious and transported by BSO Fire Rescue as a trauma alert to Memorial Regional Hospital,” police said. The victim is currently listed in stable condition at Memorial Regional Hospital. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel handled the medical transport after officers discovered the wounded man outside the bar.

“At about, like Checkers, I heard gunshots,” witness Gregory Junior Marmolejo said. “When I hear gunshots, I just literally turn the other way. I just hope no one got hurt and stuff.” The witness described hearing the gunfire from a nearby location during the overnight incident.

According to Ochoa, a preliminary investigation revealed the incident began with an argument inside the bar before shots were fired. The suspect took out a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking the victim before fleeing the scene. After shooting the victim, the gunman fled eastbound on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in a silver SUV with an unknown tag.

Ochoa described the gunman as a white or light-skinned male wearing a light-colored shirt, pants and a hat. The suspect’s vehicle was identified as a silver SUV heading east on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard following the shooting. Police have not released additional details about the suspect’s identity or possible motives for the shooting.

“I was very surprised (about) what happened,” Cynthia Rodriguez, who owns the nail salon next door, said. “When I found out, I got worried because somebody got hurt – concerned something we don’t want to happen, but it happens.” Rodriguez expressed shock at the violence occurring so close to her business on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is assisting Pembroke Park Police in the ongoing investigation.
