HOUSTON — The American League-leading Tampa Bay Rays will send four players to the 96th All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on July 14, headlined by third baseman Junior Caminero, who will become the first player in franchise history to start two Midsummer Classics.

Caminero, who earned his spot through the fan vote, joins starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen, closer Bryan Baker and designated hitter Yandy Díaz on the AL roster. The 26 first-timers across both leagues include Baker, who will make his first All-Star appearance.

“I want to tell the fans thank you for getting me sent to Philly,” Caminero said. “I feel really good. When you put in 100 percent of your ability, and the fans vote for you, it’s amazing.”

Caminero joins Evan Longoria as the only third basemen in Rays history to earn a fan selection. He posted a 45-homer, 110-RBI season in 2025 during his first All-Star campaign and has only improved his plate discipline in his second full Major League season. He will also compete in the Home Run Derby after finishing as the runner-up a year ago.

“Caminero is rewriting history right now,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said. “So I’m glad he’s going to go represent the Rays in the Derby and then the game.”

Rasmussen, making his second All-Star team after his 2025 selection, owns the second-lowest ERA among pitchers with at least 500 innings since 2021, trailing only the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani. The right-hander posted a 0.82 ERA with 39 strikeouts and four walks in 33 innings over five June starts.

Baker, in his sixth Major League season, was “shocked” when he learned of his selection. The closer, acquired from the Orioles roughly a year ago for a Draft pick, ranks among the Majors’ save leaders after stepping into a role the Rays had not initially planned to fill.

“Definitely not something I expected coming into the year,” Baker said. “It’s a pleasant surprise, for sure.”

Díaz, 34, earned his second All-Star nod through the player ballot after his first selection in 2023. He has been used exclusively as a designated hitter this season while combining disciplined at-bats with increased power.

“I feel and think I’m still 20 years old,” Díaz said through an interpreter. “I’m not having that 34-year-old age in mind. It feels good that the league is recognizing me and giving me the chance to be an All-Star.”

“Super proud of all of them; they all got there different ways,” Cash said. “Three of them, it’s their second nominations. And for Bryan Baker his first; that first one’s always special.”

Cash also lobbied for additional Rays to receive consideration, naming designated hitter Jonathan Aranda and pitchers Shane McClanahan, Kevin Kelly and Nick Martinez as candidates should roster spots open.

“I think they’re all All-Star worthy,” Cash said. “I hope our guys are considered, because they’ve performed like All-Stars for us.”

The 2026 All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
