Daniel Le Lievre, a 41-year-old former Tuskawilla Middle School teacher, was arrested by Oviedo Police and charged with custodial sexual battery and sex offense by an authority figure for allegedly having a relationship with a 13-year-old student. Le Lievre is being held without bond at the Seminole County Jail after his arrest at his residence. The charges stem from allegations that Le Lievre groomed and sexually assaulted the student while also dating her mother.

“We can confirm that Daniel Le Lievre was a teacher at Tuskawilla Middle School from 8/4/2022 through 5/03/2024,” according to Seminole County Public Schools. The district placed Le Lievre on administrative leave on 4/26/2024 due to allegations of inappropriate communications and relations with a minor. He resigned in lieu of termination and is not eligible for rehire.

According to police, Le Lievre was in a relationship with the mother of the student from October 2023 until the beginning of January 2024. During this time, the mother and her children, including the victim, would spend nights at Le Lievre’s home. When the relationship with the mother ended, Le Lievre claimed to have only dated her to “get close to” her daughter, according to the arrest report.

Oviedo Police reported that “Lelievre kept a designated drawer in his school desk filled with personal items for the student, including perfume.” The former teacher had access to school accounts that allowed him to make changes to student schedules, which police said he used to put the victim in another one of his classes without the knowledge or consent of the victim’s mother. “He also allegedly taught the student Morse code to help communicate,” according to police.

The investigation revealed that Le Lievre would create websites and throw-away emails to communicate secretly with the 13-year-old student. Police discovered it was common for Le Lievre and the victim to hold hands and hug before things escalated during their alone time together before school, during school and after school. The victim would spend time alone with Le Lievre regularly throughout the school day.

Police spoke with the victim on March 30, who alleged she was raped by Le Lievre. The Oviedo Police Department arrested Le Lievre at his residence the same day and transported him to the Seminole County Jail. The school board investigated the incidents on two separate occasions in 2024 before the criminal charges were filed.

“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and any type of behavior that undermines that safety will not be tolerated at Seminole County Public Schools,” the district stated. Le Lievre is no longer listed as an employee on the Seminole County School District website. The district has not yet provided answers about the two-year gap in the investigation timeline.

Le Lievre is set to appear before a judge Tuesday afternoon to face the charges of custodial sexual battery and sex offense by an authority figure soliciting a romantic relationship with a student.
