FORT LAUDERDALE — Luis Suárez scored a spectacular long-range chip and set up Academy product Noah Allen’s first goal of the season as Inter Miami CF drew the Columbus Crew 2-2 at Nu Stadium, extending the club’s unbeaten run to seven matches this regular season.
Suárez’s 16th-minute strike — his 10th goal this regular season and seventh in the past four matches — made the Uruguayan striker just the fifth player in MLS history to record at least 10 goals and five assists in each of his first three seasons in the league. He later delivered an assist on Allen’s headed goal in the fifth minute of first-half added time, bringing his season tally to six assists this league season.
Captain Leo Messi and midfielder Rodrigo De Paul returned to action for the first time since their participation at the FIFA World Cup 2026, adding firepower to a squad already sitting at 11W-2L-5D and 38 points. Messi had several attempts in the closing stages but could not break the deadlock after Columbus equalized in the 84th minute.
De Paul played a key role in Allen’s goal, threading a through ball to Suárez down the right side of the box before the striker delivered what the club called an “inch perfect cross” for the young defender to head home. Defender Fricio Caicedo also made his MLS debut after being signed by Inter Miami this summer, starting alongside Micael, Facundo Mura and Allen in the back four. Rocco Ríos Novo started in goal and finished with two saves.
Inter Miami held 53.6% possession to Columbus’s 46.4% but were outshot 13-11. The home side earned five corners to the Crew’s two and committed nine fouls to Columbus’s five. Both goalkeepers recorded two saves.
Inter Miami will begin its Leagues Cup 2026 campaign by hosting Atlético de San Luis on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Nu Stadium in the team’s first Phase One matchup.
