MIAMI — Florida Panthers forwards Matthew and Brady Tkachuk will serve as the celebrity hurricane siren ringers before the Miami Hurricanes’ home opener against Florida A&M at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday at 8 p.m., the university announced.
The appearance pairs the Tkachuk brothers for a pregame tradition Miami introduced last season, when team legends including Jimmy Johnson, Michael Irvin and Dan Morgan rang the siren before games. Matthew Tkachuk is no stranger to the Hurricanes’ spotlight — he became the first NHL player to serve as the celebrity guest picker on ESPN’s College GameDay last September when the show visited Coral Gables before Miami beat the Florida Gators, Florida Hockey Now reported.
Tkachuk and a large number of his Panthers teammates attended that game, and several returned throughout the season. Brady Tkachuk now gets his turn at Hard Rock Stadium as Miami looks to build on a 45-6 season-opening win at Stanford last Friday night.
The siren appearance comes as the Panthers gear up for their own season. Training camp opens Sept. 17 in Fort Lauderdale, with the preseason beginning Sept. 20 against the Carolina Hurricanes. NHL free agency opened July 1.
Florida’s 2026-27 regular season opener is scheduled for Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. against the Carolina Hurricanes on ESPN, with the Panthers’ home opener set for Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. against the Minnesota Wild.
