ORLANDO — The U.S. Men’s National Team will play its first match following the 2026 FIFA World Cup at Inter.co Stadium, hosting Peru in an international friendly on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 4:30 p.m. ET, U.S. Soccer announced.
The venue, home to Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride, has been a fortress for the Americans. Through seven matches at Inter.co Stadium since it opened in 2017, the USMNT holds a perfect 7W-0L-0D record with 25 goals scored and just two allowed.
“We’re proud to welcome the U.S. Men’s National Team back to Orlando for what will be a special occasion following the FIFA World Cup,” said Jarrod Dillon, Orlando City, Orlando Pride & Inter.co Stadium President of Business Operations. “Inter.co Stadium has become one of the premier soccer venues in the country, and this match gives fans from around the world an opportunity to travel to the region to celebrate the sport, support their respective national teams and experience another unforgettable event in the city.”
Greater Orlando Sports Commission President & CEO Jason Siegel pointed to the region’s track record as a host. “Orlando has become a true home away from home for the U.S. Men’s National Team, and we’re proud to welcome back Coach Pochettino and the team to our community for their first match following the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” Siegel said. “The support our region provides has helped create one of the best home-field environments in the country, and the team’s undefeated record at Inter.co Stadium speaks for itself.”
Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino signaled the match carries symbolic weight for the program’s next chapter. “Orlando has developed a fantastic soccer culture. Of course, we also know the city has a proud history of being a great host for the national team, and I remember well the reception of the people when we played one of our first matches there,” Pochettino said. “At the home of a club that does such a good job of developing players, there is no better place for us to begin the new chapter of the Men’s National Team.”
The friendly carries a personal connection for U.S. defender Alex Freeman, who developed through Orlando City’s academy and spent three seasons with the club’s first team before joining LaLiga side Villarreal. Freeman enjoyed a breakout World Cup campaign, including a decisive goal against Australia that secured first place in the group standings. He was named MLS Young Player of the Year in 2025 before making the move to Spain.
The Americans hold a 3W-2L-2D all-time record against Peru, most recently drawing on Oct. 16, 2018, in East Hartford, Conn. The two nations have met once before in Florida — a 1-0 U.S. victory on a goal from Cobi Jones during the Concacaf Gold Cup group stage on Feb. 16, 2000. Peru has reached five FIFA World Cups and won the Copa América in 1975, climbing as high as No. 10 in the FIFA World Rankings in 2017.
The match will be broadcast on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock, with radio coverage from Westwood One Sports and Fútbol de Primera. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. ET, with U.S. Soccer Insider presales beginning Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. ET.
